About Katherine Cuba

Kate began singing with her family at the age of 3 for the St. Louis Christmas Carols Association. She began voice lessons in New York at the age of 15. She won a few local competitions, culminating in a recital at Carnegie Recital Hall. Studying voice with Professor Cesare Longo of New York University and the renowned singer Marni Nixon are the highlights of her student years.

Kate studied acting with the beloved Harryetta Peterka, and Hugh Whitfield at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, NY, receiving her first degree from the school. She went on to receive another degree in performance and an MFA in Directing from Lindenwood University. Kate has performed leading roles in shows such as Suor Angelica, West Side Story, The Merry Widow, Brigadoon, and Carousel.

She won an international vocal competition in 1995, earning the privilege of performing the role of “Ida” in Die Fledermaus at the Rome Festival Opera. Kate has performed in repertory with the Light Opera of Manhattan, the Mule Barn Theatre of Tarkio, MO, the Weathervane Theatre in NH, as well as appearing in the Lincoln Center Opera Workshop in New York, many off-Broadway and cabaret performances in New York, The MUNY, The Black Repertory Theatre, The New Theatre, and Stages, St. Louis.

She has also appeared in feature films, industrial films, television, commercials, radio, and print ads. She is a member of Actor's Equity, the Screen Actor's Guild, and the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists. Performing is still her first love, but building the O'Fallon Repertory Theatre from scratch with the City of O'Fallon's backing is a proud moment. She has also directed for the Fulton School, the Rossman School, Maryland Heights Community Theatre, River Repertory Theatre, Weathervane Theatre, and the Mountain View Hotel Cabaret. Recently she took part in a developmental reading for a new show bound for Broadway, Rocket Boys - The Musical. For the last six years she's been happily teaching Theatre, Speech, and English in Missouri public schools. Currently, she is working again as an independent tutor.

A voice and acting teacher for twenty-five years, she has had students appear on Broadway, at the MUNY, the Goldenrod Showboat, Stages St. Louis, Branson, Tokyo Disney, and Broadway National Tours, as well as many community theatres. Her students include actors, singers, recording artists, models, industrial, and commercial talent.
